日本内阁官房长官藤村修10日宣布，日本政府已经决定由政府购买“尖阁诸岛”（即中国钓鱼岛及其附属岛屿）中的钓鱼岛、北小岛和南小岛，将这三个岛“收归国有”。中国外交部表示，中方正密切关注事态发展，将采取必要措施维护国家领土主权。当天，中国政府公布钓鱼岛及其附属岛屿领海基线。
Japanese media says the country’s government has officiallydecided to purchase China’s Diaoyu Islands. The Japanesecabinet met on Monday, and finalised details on nationalisingthe Diaoyu Islands.
Japan’s News Network reports that the cabinet will transfer the matter to Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. The government could sign a contract with the allegedprivate owners of the islands, the Kurihara family, as early as Tuesday.
Chinese President Hu Jintao made clear, China’s position on the Diaoyu Islands issue, while meetingJapanese Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda on the sidelines of the recently concluded APEC leaders’ meeting in Vladivostok.
President Hu pointed out the seriousness of how the island dispute has affected China-Japanrelations, saying China has held a consistent, clear stance on the issue.
